At Palm Beach Atlantic University I completed more than 350 hours of volunteer services. I worked with over ten different organizations varying from habitat for humanity to Make a Wish foundation. In these experiences I not only took part in the events, I became the liaison between volunteers and the organizations themselves.
Organizations/Events
- Make A Wish Foundation: Participated in the make a wish foundation for kids with cancer. Showed them the life of a college basketball player. Toured them around campus, showed them the daily rituals. Made the kids an honorary captain of the team for a day.
- Habitat for Humanity: Participated in numerous housing projects. Assisted in the different phases in construction for building the house.
- Boys and Girls Club (Palm Beach): Volunteered for numerous events that focused on building the community.
- Families for Literacy: Visited elementary schools with the Men's Basketball team at Palm Beach Atlantic University to read to kids. Helped the kids develop and improve upon reading skills.
- Mentored At-Risk Youth: Mentored youth in an after school program that involved helping with homework, advise, and life in general.
- Cure for Cancer 5k: Annually participated and helped set up a run on the inter coastal of Palm Beach. Assisted director (Mary Jacobs) in operations and set up/breakdown.
- The Lord's Place: Developed a local catering business in Palm Beach that focused on hiring the homeless and providing food to the homeless as well.
- Cancer Sucks: A friend of mine (Rob Brassington), started a company that focuses on getting cancer patients the food and supplies they need while also supporting the families in need. I helped him organize, set up, and run events to raise money.
